Kiss the Stars is a standalone in the Falling Stars series and its available in KU! A Stone in the Sea was my first AL Jackson book, and I think many readers would say the same. It was such a powerful story and its why I fell in love with Jackson's writing.

We have all the classic Jackson characters in Kiss the Stars: Single mom, musician, a tie to a previous character. Mia, the single mom, has had a tough go of things and your heart will go out to her for sure. Now, Leif isn't exactly living the high life either so they both have baggage. I think that is one characteristic of all Jackson's characters: baggage for days. Its not a bad thing; it does however lead to angst. I have to be in the mood for angsty, but Jackson's stories always work for me.

Kiss the stars has mystery, laughter, and heat, all of which will appeal to long time fans of Jackson. If you are new to Jackson, you can pick up here and not miss a beat (get it? Leif is a drummer!). I'm not really a fan of 'rockstar romance' so that part of the story wasn't really my favorite part, but its not bad. At times, Jackson's writing is very flowery. I occasionally skim parts that just seem to extol a specific look or glance. I get it-they are in love and have the hots for each other. Again, I'm pretty harsh and this writing is beloved by many readers so don't be deterred by my opinion. If you enjoy rock stars, single parents, and angst, Kiss the Stars needs to be on your TBR right now!
