Where book one was setting the scene, book two was the story after the intermission, this book is where the action happens. Compared to the first two books this book is rather actioned packed. We see Sophie attending a retreat in Scotland, being thrown together with a complete misfit bunch of women. However saying this, you do not need to have read the first two books, the pieces are filled in this book. The only thing you would not have is Sophie’s backstory or growth.

So many secrets are being kept, a lot of arguments as tempers flared. And Sophie, wow she stood up for herself and stood her ground even with her inner conflict after standing her ground. She is definitely not the timid girl we knew from the first book.

The scene is set throughout the book and there is an ominous feeling throughout as you are waiting for the follow up from the prologue. The retreat is a getaway with the same women every year, new secrets are revealed and people are harbouring anger and feelings from previous meetings. Some of which overspill and we are given an insight into some of the other women on the retreat.

So when the discovery of the body happens, the reader is then thrown around so quickly as the pins start to fall around the retreat.

This is definitely the strongest book in the trilogy, there are more and new characters we meet, Jack is still around and as mentioned Sophie is much stronger even with her internal struggles. It was very easy to people watch with this book with the bustle of all the different personalities, however, some of the things Sophie said did shock me, not sure I would say the same in that company.

The book is filled with mysteries to captivate you, who is lurking in the grounds? Who put the note under the door? Why is everyone arguing? And what is that smell? Want to know more then pick up the book!
