The Undertaker’s Daughter by Debra Webb is the prequel to The Undertaker’s Daughter series. It introduces readers to Dr. Rowan Dupont, a criminal psychologist and the daughter of an undertaker. A member of Metro’s Special Crime Unit. A unit tasked with hunting serial killers. Their current case involved catching a serial killer whose victims bore a striking resemblance to Dr. Dupont.

The story provided some insight into Dupont’s past. A past filled with pain, loss and tragedy. Readers will learn the reason she gave up following in her father’s footsteps and chose her current profession. One will find her strength and determination admirable given all she had to overcome.

The concept of the story although not unique was good.  It will grab the reader from the first page.  The story moved quickly and readers will turn the pages to discover what next would happen. The villain’s motive and his identity came to light 70% into the story. A note of warning this installment ended on a tragic note and leaves readers with a slew questions, which one can expect to be answered in the other books in the series.

Conclusion/Recommendation.
Overall, a pleasant introduction to the series. For those who enjoy suspense stories, and who are familiar with the author’s work, will enjoy this prequel.
