Treasury: 50 Stories from Brilliant Dreamers is a beautifully curated collection of 50 short biographies from the Little People, Big Dreams creators aimed at a slightly older audience (7+). Due out 9th Nov 2021 from Quarto on their Frances Lincoln Children's imprint, it's 224 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.
These stories are entertaining, enlightening, and important. They give age-appropriate backgrounds and biographies of iconic scientists, sports and cultural icons, inventors, and artists throughout the modern era, grouped chronologically from 1790 to the modern day.
Five stars. This would make a superlative reading circle book, classroom or public library book, or gift. I'm impressed by the way this series always manages to provide age appropriate biography without emphasizing or detracting from the racism, professional sexism, and troubles the subjects lived through. This would make a great starting point for deeper research for young readers who are interested in STEM subjects, arts, natural history, literature, music, sports, or political history.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes
