Dark ‘N’ Deadly proved to be an addictive romantic suspense, and I devoured it. Somehow, I missed book two but I will have plans to grab it. These really are standalone as each book deals with an agent in the K-9 unit and delivers an HEA.

ATF Special Agent Eric Miller and his explosives detecting K-9, Tiger pull over a truck and the driver turns out to be a kid. Tess McTavish’s kid brother to be exact. A woman he met previously and one he often thinks about. The kid is carry a truck full of explosives and his team suspect an anti-government group is involved.

Tess hasn’t seen her baby brother in ten years, not since she left before her eighteenth birthday. This was intense, not just from a sizzling chemistry perspective because oh man these two had sizzle, but Tess and her brother have secrets and the people they are hiding from are deadly.

O’Fallon did an excellent job of building the suspense for the case while allowing us to get to know the characters, their backstories and giving the reader a chance to have genuine feelings for them. I was rooting for Tess and her brother and I wanted Eric to open up and take a chance too.

Thanks to the suspense angle, the secrets and drama were kept low and honestly everything felt genuine from reasons to reactions. The case wrapped up nicely and we were treated to a sneak peek of the next book, and a nice epilogue. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
