This is great story with complicated relationships. The main crux of the story is one that has been written about in hundreds of various YA stories. Rich part of the land versus the lower class. Add to the fact that the whole island knows about this organization that terrorizes the lower classes. The rich celebrate it up in the nice homes while the lower class cower in basements as their homes are ripped apart. Veda been told her whole life that her parents were killed by the night. Her best friend is one of the elite and though they don’t say it i think the only ones who are offered up as sacrifices to appease the sun are the poor as well. This is a novel with political twists, a love triangle and savior who never knew she be the one to save the world. It edge of your seat good and I interested in what the sequel Defy the Sun will be about.
