Times are not easy for these women, Lauren’s husband has just died, so her and Mack, up sticks from London back to her mother many thousands of miles away. Jenna is going through her own heartbreak and Nancy too is keeping a secret. Mack, however, blurts her secret out at her fathers funeral which starts a catalyst for her and Lauren.
Now don’t get me wrong, I understand that Mack is a teenager, so emotions are turbulent. I mean I was a teenager once, but I struggled with her. Her attitude and outbursts had me facepalming. I get she was in her bubble with her own problems, but it was the way she spoke to her mother, I hated that. Probably because it reminded me of how my mum and I were before we lost my dad. Now we are the best of friends, but growing up we couldn’t be in the same room. So I do get it, but I just struggled with her.
This is my first book of Sarahs that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed my journey. She had me engaged with her characters, their story and strife and she knows how to keep secrets for sure. I would so love a follow up to this book to see how the Stewart women are getting on as I feel there is so much more to their story.
I loved the transformation of the Sail Loft and the main house. The effort and love shone through in the book, I think I would love Laurens creative eye running over my house!!
This was a beautiful tale to reiterate that it is never too late for a second chance and that life really is too short. It was a heartwarming story set against a beautiful setting. A family who were so far apart from each other that learn how to become whole as an individual and as a unit.
I have another book on my shelf to read by Ms Morgan but it is safe to say I will be keeping an eye out for her future releases as well as delving into her back catalogue. Her books are easy to read and to lose yourself in the tale in front of you. She engages the reader with the easy flow of her writing and includes us in the characters lives. We can see the growth of everyone through different eyes rather than from one point of view. I look forward to my next adventure.
