Hero of a Highland Wolf tells the story of Colleen Playfair an alpha and Grant MacQuarrie who is also an alpha. Colleen had recently inherited the family estate in Scotland, the same estate for which Grant was the manager. Now Grant was not keen on Colleen coming to spend a year at the estate, which was a condition of her accessing her inheritance, as such he was intent on doing just about anything to get her to leave. What ensued as a result led to some very hilarious moments. The one thing Grant was not counting on was for him to be attracted to Colleen which derailed his plans.
Colleen being the alpha that she was did allow the tactics employed by Grant and his pack to prevent her from taking charge. She pushed back and proved that she was worthy of her inheritance.
The characters were easy to connect with and they were very entertaining. The story did not move at the fast pace that I have come to expect from Ms. Spear, however it was not a boring read. She kept my interest by the way she outlined Grant’s and Colleen’s family history. There was mystery and intrigues embedded in the family history which made me eager to find out what direction she would be taking her fans. The pace built up near to the end which led to some nail biting moments. While reading I felt as if I was a part of the story as Ms. Spear descriptions were quite vivid.
Hero of a Highland Wolf is an entertaining and humorous read. It has the right blend of romance, mystery and intrigue. If you love shifter romance, which is filled with humour, mystery and intrigue then you need to get a copy of this book. I would also recommend the other books in the series as well.
Received a copy from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
