My Review:

I have been wanting to read this book for some time now and I am not sure why I never picked it up and just read it. I received it from BEA a while ago so I was quite happy to finally get to it. This was a really cute story and I think something that kids and adult would enjoy. I hope there will be another and this will be a series since it has a good story that can continue if the author wanted to.

Peter is a normal quiet boy, he lives with his parents and sister but his dad is in the military and is called away often. This is upsetting to Peter and he really misses his dad. So on his birthday Peters mom asks him what he want and without thinking he says a dog, peter hates dogs but his mother is very happy to get him one. He finds a dog at the shelter but something about the dog isn’t right for some reason Peter asks for the dog without even wanting to. He doesn’t give the dog a name and just calls him The Dog. Soon The Dog, Peter and his sisters are on a wild adventure to try and find the Magician.

This was a very cute story and the characters were super cute. I think I loved the little sister Izzy the best, she was such a sweet little girl. Peter finds out he is able to do magic and but it will make him very angry and with everything going on with his dad being over seas I think he is already having a lot of anger issues and the magic is making it worse. With the help of his sister and the Dog, Peter learns a lot about himself and I thought the story was just well done and full of adventure. All the characters learn a lot about themselves thought out and the ending made me want another book. I can see The Dog and Peter going on lots of adventures together and getting into all sorts of trouble helping people.

This is a really fun and fast read. I would highly recommend to kids and adults who are looking for an easy but super fun read.
