I didn’t like The Nightlife: Las Vegas as much as the first book, which is disappointing. I was really looking forward to seeing the effects of someone being addicted to vampire venom, but it all kind of fell flat. There was nothing interesting about it, as Ana essentially just went into withdrawals, which she calmed by downing copious amounts of vodka, yelling “I need my bite now!”, then having lots of sex with Aaron and Michelle. I actually found Ana very annoying and couldn’t see why they were so in love with her. Also Michelle was quite…tame. Her number one rule is no bloodslaves, so I expected her to totally lose it. Nope. Not even a little. She lost that sass she had in the previous book.
The Nightlife: Las Vegas does have more plot than New York did. However, there was way too much gratuitous violence and uncomfortable situations. I was enjoying it in the beginning, since Demarco and Kramer have no idea that they’re trying to get rid of a vampire and steal his vampire girlfriend. I was looking forward to watching Aaron and Michelle take them out, but not in the way it happened. I just really do not enjoy reading about gore and violence towards women. Let’s just leave it at that.
In the end, I didn’t enjoy The Nightlife: Las Vegas too much. It wasn’t as fun or as interesting as the first book, and I missed hating Michelle. This time I was just bored with her. It does have its moments, but overall it’s a miss for me.
