Eviana is a mermaid, next in line to lead her clan, Brendan is a selkie, and they are hopelessly in love with each other. A doomed romance, since Eviana is promised to the next in line to his clan, Kain. Hastily, she follows her heart and abandons all her responsibilities to her family, her people and Kain, but unrest in the mer-world is brewing and she will be forced to make some big decisions.
I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of action, romance, friendship and interesting mythology. Eviana is a very complicated young woman, but showed a lot of growth over the course of the first book. I must say, the author did such a good job writing Kain, that I am team Kain all the way.
