The Darkest Secret (Lords of the Underworld, #7)

by Gena Showalter

In this sexy installment of New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series, the haunted Amun meets a woman who tempts him like no other…

Keeper of the demon of Secrets, Amun can manipulate the darkest thoughts of anyone nearby. But when the immortal warrior is chained and isolated to protect those he loves, death is his only hope of release—until he meets Haidee, a fellow prisoner whose beauty and hidden vulnerability draw him into a reckless test of his loyalty…

Haidee is a demon-assassin, raised to despise Amun's kind. Yet how can she hate the man whose touch sets her aflame? But to save him, she must give herself body and soul…and face the wrath of a powerful adversary sworn to destroy her.

Poor Amun, his secrets almost killed him, and ended up killing Haidee. I was very touched by their story, they had both had so much heartache and pains, and finally, when they had decided to trust each other, she died :O I was almost as sad and outraged as Secrets was.

Very good stories around Amun's and Haidee's as well. Strider is going to be in for the biggest challenge of his life once Kaya starts pursuing him for real, that's for sure.

Excellent to see all the Lords coming together in the end, to try and help Amun get over his loss, and how surprised they were that he actually spoke to them before he started fighting with Strider.

Excellent book, I look forward to the next installment, as usual :)
