Echo is the 7th book in the Linear Tactical series, which doesn't seem possible, but gives us the story of single mom Peyton and superstar Cade. This is a second chance romance and Crouch doesn't let miscommunications get in the way. I appreciated the maturity Peyton showed in not hiding information. While the initial issue between these two was due to miscommunication, they were young an immature when it occurred and now that they are older, its handled in a more mature manner. I appreciated that because there was NO need to create unnecessary drama-llama.

If you have read the previous books, you have met Peyton and her daughter, You also know Peyton is working 3 jobs and barely making it. Cade isn't one of the Linear Tactical guys. He is a financial backer. He isn't a former special ops guy or anything like that. He comes from a life of privilege, while Peyton most certainly did NOT. You get glimpses into what happened in the past that inform the present but unlike the other books, this doesn't focus entirely on a serious danger to a character. Echo is more a story of rebuilding relationships and this is a different turn for the series. There is a touch of danger in the very end of the story because, after all, this is a Linear Tactical book!

Jess and Ethan steal the show at times in Echo. I think these two are just too precious for words and I can't wait to watch them grow up and get their own story!

  •   POV: 3rd

  •   Tears: no

  •   Trope: single mom, surprise baby

  •   Triggers: Peyton was physically abused as a teen

  •   Series/Standalone: stand alone within an interconnected series

  •   Cliffhanger: no

  •   HEA: yes

...then you will probably like Echo!
