Another children's classic and a great find from the lists of Memoria Press. This one from the second grade curriculum list. Absolutely perfect for a winter snowy day (like today!)! This book is a classic with the 1948 copyright. (My copy is a 1990 Scholastic printing.) Alternating every half dozen pages or so with a full color spread to the more common black and white images really fills the imagination in a pleasant manner.

We've had unusually cold days but no snow in the recent days. So this morning when we woke up to everything covered in white this was the perfect book to reach for as a snuggle read. Both my toddler and preschooler are entertained by the animals and their actions. They are loving identifying each animal and discussing what they're up to. This was a great experience to share. No wonder it is a Caldecott Medalist.
