"Not one thing about you is ugly. The only thing those scars prove is that you can walk through fire and survive. I can't think of anything more beautiful than that."

Brody has decided it is time to leave New York and try and start new away from the horrors of his past. Shay has been living on her little island escaping the horrors of her past. When Shay gets an email from the owners that they are selling she is worried that she will lose her solitude. When Brody agrees to keep her on, she is shocked when she actually sees him. As they try to keep their relationship platonic, their pasts come back to haunt them, turning to each other to survive.

Catherine Cowles is a master at painting a picture with her words and evoking raw emotion. I was transported into the world she created from the beginning of the book and felt like I was a part of the story. The suspense and mystery of the story keep you on the edge of your seat, all well intertwining the growth of a friendship and relationship between two people trying to start over after both experiencing scary pasts. There is an interesting twist that I did not totally see coming. I can not wait for Hunter's story next.

Audio: Sebastian and Ava were the perfect narrators for this story. They brought Brody and Shay to life as well as made you feel like you were a part of the story and that they were a real couple.
