Snow by Cynthia Rylant

Snow

by Cynthia Rylant

Cynthia Rylant's lyrical descriptions of the sights and feelings evoked by falling snow blend gorgeously with the rich and beautiful world created by Lauren Stringer's illustrations, in which a young girl, her friend, and her grandmother enjoy the many things a snowy day has to offer.

Typically I love the poetic prose of Cynthia Rylant, however, her words in this book do not flow quite as well for me beyond the first page. This oversized book as recommended by one of the Memoria Press prkmary grades still has a place on our holidays shelf with other winter and snow themed books as it is gorgeous to behold. The illustrations of snowflakes and crystals throughout are enough to just sit and stare for long moments on end. This book we grabbed today outside of our scheduled rotation as it is snowing out our window. A week before my birthday, and nearly unheard of weather but brilliant and exciting all the same. All of my children, ages 19 months, 4 years, 7 years, and 9 years all enjoy this snuggly read aloud.

I bought this oversize jacketed hardcover book for our shelves based on Memoria Preas recommendation. #classicaleducation #classicalchristianeducation #memoriapress
