I’m a fan of the Little Black Dress
I think I may be the WORST reviewer for Anthologies. When I was asked to review Little Black Dress, I was all – Sure, sure, I’m honoured to be asked… Inside my head, I’m screaming – Bloody, bloody, bloody Hell! I am soooo going to stuff this up.
See, I start every anthology with the intent to stop after each story and get my feelings down. Yes, I was determined that THIS time I would act professional and review each instalment individually.
HA HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Well, it didn’t happen. I got to the end of Abby’s story (first cab off the rank) and thought I’d just click to the next page to be prepared…and…
Here I am at the end of the book!!
Bloody Hell…I did it again!!
This anthology was AWESOMELY BRILLIANTLY SPECTACULARLY…GOOD! Seriously, I’m not just saying that because it’s raising money for a worthwhile cause. I’m not even just saying it because I’m a fan of these authors. It’s just me saying – Here you go, I’ve done the research and found four stories that gave me SSS – Smile, Squirm and Sigh…or maybe… HHH – Hot, Humorous and High (Book high, no drugs were taken or misused in the reading of Little Black Dress).
Anyways, my summaries are brief and pretty much stick to my reactions and feelings. Each of these short stories left me with a big goofy smile on my face.
Abby’s story was all about reconnecting with her husband when life and drama made it seem like love and commitment weren't a priority anymore. I think, if you’ve ever been in a long-term relationship, we’ve all faced this one. A great reminder that whatever challenges you face, it should be faced together, holding hands and supporting each other.
The second story is about Abby’s little sister Lucy and what happens after her “biggest crush” sees her now as a very sexy adult instead of the pesky little sister of his best friend. This one is funny and super sweet. I had the sighs and “ain’t love grand?” heart flutters with this one.
The third story introduces us to Katie who is trying to thwart her parent's devotion to getting her hitched by introducing her to “blind dates” at the family dinner’s. Now, the main reason she’s not keen on the blind dates is because she has serious feelings for her partner facing crime and fellow police officer, Ethan. Two police officers and one of them is seriously bossy in the bedroom. I like bossy in the bedroom….HUBBA HUBBA!!
The last story we meet the very funny Win. OMG!! I busted out laughing a couple of times in this one. Seriously, Win and Max and their straight talking CRACKED ME UP!! Winnie is asked to attend a work function with a friend and decides to make things interesting. Win dresses and acts the part of serious government contract worker, Winnifred. She meets and falls for Max as Winnifred. What will happen when he finds out who she really is and what she’s really like???
All of these stories have one thing in common…a Little Black Dress. This thing is magical. Whoever wears this dress seems to have the best night (and sex) of their life.
I seriously (I know I’ve only said that word 20 billion times) recommend Little Black Dress. I’m kind of hoping, seeing as it’s raising money for a good cause, the authors will think about doing more of these. They were that good.
