Oh, I loved this book! Erin Leaf is a favorite of mine, and she's never disappointed me...never. "Rock Star Baby" is another win for me!
This is the love story of Ryan, a rock singer, and Bardulf, the Alpha Heir to his pack of wolf shifters. They meet through a hilarious series of events, and the sparks fly right away...I mean REALLY fly. I don't want to give too much away, but what happens when the two of them are together for the first time is so primal and HOT that I had to take a break for a few minutes after I read it. After their...er...lovemaking (ok, so it was some really great and insane sex), something is unleashed in Ryan that he'd never thought possible. The love story between Ryan and Bardulf isn't all smooth sailing. There are misunderstandings, occasions where both of them act like fools, but still their relationship continues to grow. Our guys are also trying to deal with the distance between them. Ryan is on tour with his band, and Bardulf is left to tend to pack business. To me, that felt like the most difficult part of all. I really felt for them, but they work it all out when they are presented with a wonderful surprise. Once again, no spoilers, but it DID make me smile a mile wide, and once again, I really could feel their emotions. That is one of the things that Ms. Leaf is best at. She writes so well that the reader can really connect with the characters in her stories.
"Rock Star Baby" has a really great underlying plot. It's a real mystery, and it's an interesting one at that. It was an important part of the story without detracting from the romance. I was completely enthralled, and when I found out what was happening, I was gobsmacked. Also, there are some background characters who have some awesome personalities, and I can't wait for the sequels that are bound to come because I'd really like to get to know these guys better.
All in all, as you can see, I really enjoyed this book. It's romantic, sweet, HOT, and very sexy. If you like your MM stories filled with shifters, miracles, and suspense, this is definitely for you. If you're new to Erin Leaf, this is a good starter novel (although she writes about all sorts of things). You need to pick this one up.
