Falling for Jillian by Kristen Proby

Falling for Jillian (Love Under the Big Sky, #3)

by Kristen Proby

Jillian thought she was a city girl through and through; the fast cars, high fashion, and glamour-she loves it all. But when her ex tells her he's having a baby with his new wife (after Jillian struggled for years to get pregnant), she hightails it back to Montana to cry on the shoulder of her best friend, Cara.

But in truth, Jillian would rather be comforted by someone else…specifically Zach, Cara's brother-in-law. Zach is a veteran of the Iraq War who came back to the family ranch to raise his preteen son after the boy's mother took off. He's struggling to re-establish a relationship with his son, and warding off the demons of PTSD, which still haunt him. The last thing he needs is bold, brassy Jillian…but why can't he keep his hands off her?

Coffee dates with Falling for Jillian

Kristen Proby is a new to me author and I decided to venture into this contemporary on audio. It was quite the experience with its dual pov’s and heated romance.

First date: Jillian has decided to return home to Montana. She is recovering from a failed marriage and the realization that she will never be a mother.  However, she is happy to be back among friends and closer to her brother. I quickly learn that Jillian had a one-night stand with Zach, her best friend’s brother-in-law. He is now home in Montana raising his pre-teen son after a disastrous marriage and military tour. Right away, I am curious about these too. Jillian is sweet, and while she has baggage, she is confident and knows what she wants. I am not quite sure of Zach, the man may have issues but I am not quite ready to snuggle up to him yet. We shall see.

Second date: Oh, my…first detailed sex scene on audio folks. It was hot and more detailed than I expected. If you could have seen me, pulling out the earbuds like those suckers were on fire, and look around as if others could hear what I was hearing. I have no problem with heat and in fact love it from time to time, but looking at the cover, I didn’t quite expect this amount of detail. Whoa, baby! It was yummy but oooh my virgin ears! I am enjoying getting to know this couple and their circle of friends and family. While it is not necessary to have read the previous books, I am finding I want to know more about the other couples. After taking a deep breath, giggling a little and listening to that first sex scene the next one was better for me. Proby writes delicious, believable and hot sex scenes. While it just took some adjustment to having, it read to me I enjoyed these moments. I am in love with Seth, Zach’s son and his adorable dog. The interaction between the characters has endeared me to them and I am hoping for happily ever after.

Third date: Uh-oh there has been a little hiccup and boy howdy has Zach mess up, but then so does Jillian and I am about ready to slap them both in the back of the head. While I get they have baggage and understand Zach’s initial reaction this is a prime example of why when faced with shocking news you take a deep breath and process, before you open your mouth. The dual perspectives allowed us to understand the characters even if we did not always agree with their behavior. This last date was filled with angst, and some very sweet moments. The climax had me holding my breath and smiling. Despite turbulence, the story was nicely balanced with family moments, friends and encounters with the past. I ended up pulling out my ear-buds feeling warm and fuzzy. This was a quick audio date at just under seven hours.
