I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Dirty Deals by Nicole James is the second book in the Devil Kings MC series. This installment gives us Rusty, the president of the Devil Kings MC story. Rusty intrigued me when I met him in Dirty Deeds, and I wanted to learn more about him. Therefore, when the opportunity came for me to read and review his story, I did not hesitate.

The story began on an interesting note. Immediately the reader is plunged into the glamorous world of high-stakes gambling and luxury accommodations for the rich and famous. This is the world Ashlyn works in. It’s her job to ensure that her clients have an enjoyable time whether they are winning or losing. All seems to be going well until that fateful night when she witnessed a double murder. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Terrified, she made a run for it, but not before the perpetrators saw her. Recognizing the danger she faces, she immediately left Las Vegas.

While making her escape, she got a flat tyre, leaving her to contemplate her next move. At that moment Rusty came to her rescue. Leery of him, she grudgingly accepted his offer of help. An offer which would lead to the development of a relationship and so much more.

I had a good time with this installment. I found it to be better than the first book, despite some unbelievable moments.  Danger and sexy times were the mainstay of the story.

Rusty is drawn to the sassy beauty who clearly is running from something or someone. He wants to help her if only she would trust him. Ashlyn fears putting her trust in Rusty and thwarted his flirtatious attempts, which never lasted long. Soon he enticed her with a job and promises of passionate nights.

The characters felt underdeveloped. I loved them both, but it would have been nice to have had more background information on both of them. I wondered how the romance between these two would work as they had nothing in common. Ashlyn lived a life of glamour while Rusty's world is somewhat on the shady side. Ashlyn struck me as the type who can adapt to any situation.

My issue with Ashlyn had to do with her refusal to tell Rusty the truth in relation to who wanted to hurt her. He gave many opportunities to come straight, but she kept twisting the truth.

The story ended on a romantic note, with the epilogue dropping hints regarding the next installment. I am looking forward to that one.

Narration

Virginia Rose and Ryan West continues to narrate. I enjoyed their collaboration, where Virginia did all the female voices and Ryan the male ones. Their portrayal of the characters were spot on, making easy to distinguish between the different voices. Their range and tone made for a great listening experience.

Overall, Dirty Deals provides the perfect escape  for those times you are looking for a quick and spicy read. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
