One of the things I enjoy about this series is how Dark continues to flesh out the supernatural world and further the overall arc development. In IMPULSE we learn more about Silver from her childhood to surprising information about her birth.

The story surrounds a box Silver took in the previous book. Simon and the others have been investigating its contents, and it leads to some disturbing discoveries. The story takes place about a year after the previous book, and we see development in Silver's romance with her enemy Logan Cross. While the gang is still working to bring down the dark forces who attacked Silver, the case just got a lot more complicated. As they investigate, we discover that corruption and evil are seeded within the Mageri. All of the threads tie into the series ARC, and it makes you realize how very little we know.

Danger, suspense, life and death moments, rivalries and alpha moments might just make Silver crazy. Silver is slowly making a place for herself and coming to terms with her new life, but she struggles with some of the backward laws, and I am right there with her. We had some real nail-biting moments. There are some archaic laws within the Breeds, and they continue to frustrate me. I will be curious to see if Silver can change any of these. She certainly makes an impact on the men who surround her.

I love how Dark continues to develop the characters. We gain insight in Justus, Silver's Ghuardian. Have I mentioned I love this uptight man? Simon is a constant source of laughter. I wept for Adam and wanted to slay a particular female. Christopher a vampire is sure to become a new favorite. The man made me laugh and is a combination of Justin and Simon personality wise. Then there is Logan the Chitah who loves Silver. The man is quite patient and can feed me anytime!

For fans of the series, we are rewarded with some answers and left with new questions. Since this is an urban fantasy, the series is best listened to in order.
