I’ve had the first book in this series almost as long as I’ve owned a kindle, so I figured it was time I at least tried out the series with the prequel short story…and I’m so glad I did! I’ll admit to being one of those people who judge a book by it’s cover (it’s the cover for a reason), so I didn’t expect much from Hera and I ended up getting so much more. The writing is really great, and there is just enough of the plot and world building to get me interested and raring to go for first book. The world in Hera is definitely different, with humans that have become more thanks to a parasite…the next step on the evolutionary rung, or so they make themselves believe. Through Hera we get just a taste of the corruption within the Gultur race.

This is certainly a series that I’m going to keep in mind when I’m digging through the piles of kindle books. I look forward to seeing the world building in full force and just what the fight against the Gultur is really like.
