Breathless by Brigid Kemmerer

Breathless (Elemental, #2.5)

by Brigid Kemmerer

TOO MANY SECRETS, NOT ENOUGH TIME

Nick Merrick is supposed to be the level-headed one. The peacemaker. Since it's just him and his three hotheaded brothers against the world, that's a survival tactic.

But now he's got problems even his brothers can't help him survive.

His so-called girlfriend, Quinn, is going from fast to crazy. Meanwhile, Quinn's friend Adam, a dancer, is throwing Nick off-balance, forcing him to recognize a truth he'd rather keep hidden.

He can feel it - the atmosphere is sizzling. Danger is on the way. But whatever happens next, Nick is tarting to find out that sometimes there's you can do to keep the peace.

I love reading Kemmerer's novellas for the Elemental series because they add so much to the characters they're about and the overall story.

Nick has always been the responsible sibling and peacemaker, the type of guy who seems to have his life in order, so it's great to get into his head for a brief moment and witness his struggles.

I've never had strong feelings about Quinn because I've always thought of her just as Becca's best friend, but in Breathless, I felt for her and her situation. She seems so bold, confident and outspoken, but she has insecurities and a poor self-esteem. Her home life is also terrible. I could empathise with her situation, but I still couldn't understand her decisions.

A new character is also introduced in Breathless, Adam, and I have one word: chemistry.

After rereading Breathless, I'm even more excited to reread Secret
