The Many Sins of Lord Cameron (Mackenzies & McBrides, #3)

by Jennifer Ashley

A renowned rake, Cameron Mackenzie doesn't care if Ainsley Douglas has a virtuous excuse for sneaking around his bedchamber. He only cares that she's at his mercy. One kiss at a time, he plans to seduce her. But what starts out as a lusty diversion may break Cam's own rules.

This series is as awesome as I remember

For such a "good" girl, Ainsley really was a perfect match for the sinful Cameron. It's been years since I've read this one and my re-introduction to him did not show him in the best light. I had forgotten his past, the scars he wore and the life he'd led. I started The Many Sins of Lord Cameron only seeing his sins. Even at the beginning of the story, I was convinced that my 5-stars previously awarded, was wrong. I was convinced I had made one of those wacky "If I remember correctly..." mass ratings I did when I first started on Goodreads. And then I settled in...

Seriously, historical romance lovers, this series is awesome. OK, I should clarify. This series is awesome if you love stories with crazy family dynamics, messed up childhoods to overcome and characters with faults who know it but make the most of their situations. These men and women are loyal, strong and determined to succeed. This series puts me on a historical romance high and I've loved every return to their world.

I absolutely loved that the narrator did Ainsley's character with a strong and sensual voice. Too often, I find that with so many characters to portray, you can sometimes lose the essence of the character. Ainsley has made mistakes in her past but she's overcome them and made every effort to right her wrongs. She is a dedicated attendant to the Queen and manages to find herself in a tricky situation on one of her errands. This tricky situation has landed her in the bedroom of Lord Cameron, and he wants her to stay.

Again, this is not an easy read/listen. Lord Cameron's past marriage could turn your stomach when you hear the grizzly details. It's no bloody wonder he turns to oblivion to block it all out. The one shining light from his past is his son, Daniel. I loved that Daniel is funny and a bit of a rascal. He is way more mature than any 16-year-old should be and it's no wonder considering his father's and uncle's reckless and rakish ways. The two love each other but like most males, don't often share their feelings. Deep down they know they're loved.

I will definitely be going on. I have to know (be reminded) why I gave that very imperfect Duke...who marries a perfect wife, 5 stars.

I'm sorry, that was a bit of a rambling review, hope you can make some sense of it. Just know that I LOVE the Highland Pleasure series.
