Loved this story!!!! There it’s got it all, alpha male, strong and feisty female, great friends, suspense, and of course lots of romance.
Raina Easton wanted to be a Broadway dancer unfortunately she just wasn’t built physically for that kind of life. So instead she makes her own way by opening a burlesque club. When she is offered a job as the dance coach/chorographer for a major league baseball team she takes the opportunity though not totally sold on the idea of a baseball team having a dance team.
Malachi Coulter is one of 3 owners of the New York Saints baseball team and doesn’t get why his partner Alex thinks a dance troupe is a good idea. This is not the norm in the baseball world. In fact when we first meet him he is trying to find ways to get rid of the group but when he meets Raina for the first time sparks fly between the two of them even though neither is ready or wanting a relationship.
Raina doesn’t want to deal with another bad boy who will ultimately break her heart while Mal is still dealing with his past and doesn’t want to go down the relationship path. External circumstances start impacting the pair and Mal feels obligated to help Raina and that’s when things get really interesting.
Melanie Scott does so much right, loved the 3rd person alternating POV’s, you get to see both sides of the story. Since this is the 3rd book of the series it can seem strange to jump in with out reading the other books but she does a good job establishing the other characters so you as a new reader know exactly who everyone is. That being said the friends that Mal and Raina have are fun and are great characters themselves. The suspense does build and the payoff is good – some things happen that the reader is not part of so the ending does feel a bit rushed. Raina does also reference her grandmother but we really never get a clear picture of where Raina’s family is; I would have liked to have that flushed out a bit more. Other than those 2 I didn’t have any other complaints.
There is 4th book coming out that looks good and I will go back and read the first 2. This one is a fun story and I recommend it!
