Elemental Thief by Rachel Morgan

Elemental Thief (Ridley Kayne Chronicles, #1)

by Rachel Morgan

She's a thief with forbidden magic. He's the guy she just stole from. Now they'll have to work together.

In a city where magic is outlawed, teenage thief Ridley uses her special powers to steal from the rich and give to those in need—until the night someone follows her home after a heist and ends up murdered outside her apartment.

When her best friend is accused of the crime, Ridley is determined to prove his innocence.

But things get messy when the artifact Ridley stole turns out to contain secrets that could endanger many lives. Forced to team up with wealthy Archer—the guy she stole from—Ridley must hunt down the artifact before it winds up in deadly hands.

Which means following a trail into the hidden parts of the city ...

... and hopefully not winding up dead.

I have been a fan of Rachel Morgan since i discovered her creepy hollows series which is an entire fantasy series with fae characters.  It has kept me quite happy when i need a fairy fix.  When i found out she was writing a Urban fantasy with a dystopian aspect to it i jumped at the chance to read it.  It did not disappoint at all.  In this story magic has been banned since the world attempted to blow it self up by fixing an energy crisis with a surge of magic.   So Ridley though has a different type of magic it essentially a part of who she is,  blended into her in a sense, if she not carefully she glow with it.

The story moves along at a great pace, the characters are well thought out, and i was kept guessing on who was essentially the bad guy.  I did not guess who it was and that good i don;t like when i figure it out to soon.  I am excited to see where Ridley story goes next.
