I wasn't expecting such a succinct book, and the diary format initially I thought would be unsatisfying. But [a:Franny Billingsley|249843|Franny Billingsley|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1258759502p2/249843.jpg] is able to evoke characters and relationships and the rules of the story's world with an economy of words. Corinna was an interesting character, both distasteful in her harsh insistence on vengeance and almost admirable in her effective and necessary role as Folk Keeper. I disliked her some and respected her as well.

I liked the threads of the story as they unraveled and the way the world fit together in the end.
