This is the first young adult romance I've read by Susan Hatler.  I have read most of her other romances and enjoyed them so I was fully expecting to enjoy The Crush Dilemma, which I did.

Poppy Pinkleton is the consummate overachiever.  Though she is just 16, she has her college and her major picked out, and knows what she needs to do to get there.  She is also a typical teenage nerd, insecure and frustrated at the circumstances in her life.

The story is filled with Ms. Hatler's humor (seriously, how could a book about a girl named Poppy Pinkleton not have humor!), teenage insecurity, school, boys, cheerleaders, boys, mean girls, and parents who are too wrapped up in their own difficulties to have time for their kids.  It is well written, paced just right and is all of what it should be.
