This was a researched purchase when I was trying to acquire multicultural fairy tales a few years ago. I believe we read it then, but today I read it after reading Lon Po Po and being influenced to read more books illustrated by Ed Young. We read Lon Po Po, today under the influence of Beautiful Feet Books Around the World with Picture Books Volume 1. Following up with Yeh-Shen was fun and timely in our China study and I plan to go read Wabi Sabi next. I pulled it from our shelf when I saw that it, too is illustrated by Ed Young. That will be a great introduction to our Japan study.
