I loved how this book was set in the 1940's during WWII. The historical feel of the book was realistic and the writing was crisp. Main character Bonnie is closed, and hard to like at first. Soon into the book you find out why she stays guarded and unattached from others. She had a cruel beginning in life with a father that abused her and her mother. The mystery begins as we meet Bonnie, and you soon want to know all of secrets that she is harboring. Romance finally comes to her when she meets Glen. As she tries to move forward in life her lies soon catch up with her. Bonnie's happily ever after could be ruined by what secrets are hidden in the red box. The ending is so surprising that you might not see it coming. This compelling read will keep you captive until Bonnie's secrets are revealed.
