Film student Lyra Prescott accidentally documents a crime while working on a school assignment. When bad things start happening, Lyra knows it's no coincidence. A friend introduces her to FBI agent Sam Kincaid, who has been hailed as a hero for his actions on a previous case. Now it will take heroics from both Sam and Lyra to save them from the surrounding malevolent forces.
A lot of backstory and additional time with side characters made it more difficult to connect with the main characters. Minor head-hopping was jarring, especially in the audiobook version. But overall not a bad story.
