Between The Land and The Sea wasn’t your typical mermaid story. It was typical where the teen girl finds out that she is a human/mermaid hybrid and that she has great powers. What I didn’t count on was that the mermaids were evil. For some reason, that got to me. Mermaids to me shouldn’t be evil or made out to be evil. The reasons why the mermaids were evil were revealed. And I felt sorry for them and Marina.

The sub-stories of Cruz, Meghan, Abby, Evie, Dutch, and Ethan added depth to the story. I do wish that more time was spent on Marina’s father but him being out of the picture allowed for her character to grow.

Will, I reread this? You bet, and I am planning on reading the rest of the series.

**I voluntarily reviewed this book**
