Finn is struggling to come to terms with his physical restrictions whilst dealing with the death of one of his closest friends. He's hidden away whilst struggling with the guilt he carries. When Tanner turns up on military leave, he feels like a missing piece is back in his life, only the man stirs up feelings he didn't know existed.
When Tanner returns to finally pay his respect to his late friend Chris, it ignites long repressed feelings and desires for the man that survived the tragic accident...Finn. After spending twenty years in the military, he's faced with having to overcome his fears...coming out to his family.
The Father he Runs is intense as the plot focuses almost entirely on Finn and Tanner's relationship as it shifts from platonic to physical. Both have emotional baggage to take care of as they try to figure out and navigate the shift in their feelings for each other and what impact it will have on their lives as well as those around them.
The author does a wonderful job tackling a sensitive issue such as grief, racism and the impact of the US military "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. The sexy times are scorching hot and just a little bit kinky!
Overall, I'll be looking out for other titles by Linda Aicher, a new author to me and if you like M/M romances, then this comes highly recommended.
