I received this book for free from Berkley Prime Crime in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
There are a few different plot threads in the book. Some tie into the main mystery, and some tie together into a main side mystery. Both are woven together well.
I liked how Emma interacted with the ghosts, and how her talent was portrayed. The characters were well-written, with enough fleshing out to feel real. Some I clicked with right away, and others I didn't like so much.
I guessed who the killer was early on, but had no idea of the why. I also liked how Emma had to look up historical records and put old clues together to find out what might have happened to the missing children long ago.
From the moment I started reading, the book sucked me in. So much so, that I didn't put it down until I had finished the last page. If you haven't tried this series yet, you need to do so!
