A Curious Tale of the In-Between by Lauren DeStefano

A Curious Tale of the In-Between

by Lauren DeStefano

Pram Bellamy is special--she can talk to ghosts. She doesn't have too many friends amongst the living, but that's all right. She has her books, she has her aunts, and she has her best friend, the ghostly Felix.

My TBRL Review:

I am not sure what I was expecting when I started to read this. What I read was different and unexpected, I actually really enjoyed it and found myself really loving Pram. She was a little quirky and strange but I loved that the most about her, even though she tired to be “normal” it was hard to actually do that when you see ghosts and no one believes you. Pram spent a lot of time with a ghost friend named Felix. Felix really loves Pram and they have a very sweet relationship. When Pram gets sent to regular school, instead of being home schooled by her Aunts Dee and Nan, she is very worried that people will find her to be abnormal. What she didn’t expect was making a friend named Clarence. I actually felt that this had a very sweet friend triangle. I did love how the two boys really cared about Pram especially since she didn’t know her dad and she assumed she killed her mom during child birth. The characters really drive this book but it also had a great story.

The story is very sweet but not scary. I didn’t feel like it was slow and I finished the book in two days so I know it captured my interest only because I was so worried about Pram and her friends. I really enjoy this book, I haven’t read anything from Lauren DeStefano before and I don’t plan to make this book my last from her. I loved her writing style and how intense she makes the story and characters. This is a great read and I strongly recommend.
