The Way You Make Me Feel

by Maurene Goo

Clara Shin lives for pranks and disruption. When she takes one joke too far, her dad sentences her to a summer working on his food truck, the Honeycut, alongside her uptight classmate Rose Carver. Not the carefree summer Clara imagined. But maybe Rose isn't so bad. Maybe the boy named Hamlet (yes, Hamlet) on the truck next door is pretty cute. Maybe Clara's estranged mum deserves a second chance. What if taking these relationships seriously means leaving her old self behind? From the author of I Believe in a Thing Called Love comes another funny story of friendship, romance, and discovering that even when life gets serious, it can still be seriously fun.

Not as good as her first book I found. I just wasn't a fan of the MC this time around. Sure she could be funny but it just got annoying eventually. I did appreciate that the author focused more on her new friendships over the romance aspect but it still felt like it wasn't enough. I feel like nothing at all was wrapped up? Clara figured out some stuff about her mom but never actually talks about it to her dad. Nothing is even mentioned about her "old" friends. Are things ok with everyone else? She vaguely says sorry and then the book ends. Not everything needs to be wrapped up in a book but I don't feel satisfied at all from this one.
