I absolutely adored this book! Wishtree is a heartwarming story with so much meaning behind it. Written in first person narrative by Red, an oak tree, we learn of a Muslim child, Samar, who’s family recently moved to the old neighborhood.

Red is also known as a Wishtree, whom Samar soon wishes upon. When tensions rise in the community and Samar’s loneliness grows, Red decides to do something that trees are forbidden to do while Red’s own set of problems loom ahead.

I loved the witty dialogue and cozy feel of it all, like listening to a wise old friend on a sunny breezy day. It gave me all the feel-goods reading this book!

I absolutely recommend this book for all middle grade readers and adults alike! Written by Applegate, author of “The One and Only Ivan”, Wishtree will soon be a timeless treasure that every family will love!
