Somebody To Love

by Kristan Higgins

After her father loses the family fortune in an insider-trading scheme, single mom Parker Welles is faced with some hard decisions. First order of business: go to Gideon's Cove, Maine, to sell the only thing she now owns--a decrepit house in need of some serious flipping. When her father's wingman, James Cahill, asks to go with her, she's not thrilled...even if he is fairly gorgeous and knows his way around a toolbox.

Having to fend for herself financially for the first time in her life, Parker signs on as a florist's assistant and starts to find out who she really is. Maybe James isn't the glib lawyer she always thought he was. And maybe the house isn't the only thing that needs a little TLC....

Another successful story by Kristan Higgins. I truly enjoyed this one, especially because not only did I get to see memorable characters from "Catch of the Day" and" The Next Best Thing", which in no way took away from Parker and James' storyline, it just made it even better! If you didn't get to read those two books, that's OK, readers can still enjoy STL because it stands alone. But, I do highly recommend those 2 excellent reads, as well. I gave them 5 stars each.
For Parker, her challenge is to start a new life far different than what she's used to, but good to know she's not a delicate flower and proves she's capable of accomplishing many achievements successfully. She has to learn to fend for herself.
For James, he has family issues in his past that haunt him, making him carry a guilt not able to overcome. But he works hard to be near Parker and helps her with her problems, in hopes to win her heart.
As always, there are big laughs, and tears, some of tender moments, others of more depth and sorrow. Also, funny characters, swoon worthy heroes and romance at its best. Parker is a mother of 5 yr old Nicky and Kristan Higgins does an excellent job of showing how well Parker plays her role as a mother throughout the story. Nicky just tickled my heart, with his ocurrences, too! And James, well he just charmed me from beginning to end! (specially in the epilogue). Parker tries to ignore or fight her feelings for James, but in the end he manages to break some barriers and they both work out their problems.
So, if you're looking for great romance, family drama, adorable and not so adorable pets, great characters,( imaginary ones, too) good laughs and swoon worthy heroes, it's all here! You'll laugh, cry and sigh...
Highly recommend this one, Frankly, any of K. Higgins. I give it 5 big Stars!
