Overall, I really enjoyed Visions of Heat. There's some great developments regarding the Psy and some really interesting potential for the series was established. However, I was not a fan of the romance and, given that this is a PNR, I had high expectations for that. I buddy read this with Anne and I know she shared my sentiments, also rating it between 3.5 - 4 stars.
I loved Faith. She reminded me of a Rapunzel like character, having lived very isolated and protected, sneaking out of her tower to assert her independence. Just because she's lived protected doesn't mean she's incapable - quite the opposite. She's strong and knows how to think for herself. It's quite sad that, for her, being valuable and protected also meant being treated as property.
Which was probably my number one problem with Vaughn. He staked his claim on her and made her his without her permission, without explanation, etc. I know she also falls in love with him and this is a mating bond, but I've seen it play out many times without such a possessiveness. It would have been nice to see him sensitive to her past and do the opposite. I do have to give him credit, though, he does see that she's a strong independent woman and encourages her faith in herself. So he's not ALL bad, he just rubbed me the wrong way.
The developments with the Psy were substantial and I'm very excited to see how they play out in future books. I'm starting to see where this series may go, thanks to our F-Psy. Coincidence, since her ability is foresight?
The narration continues to be fantastic and I will definitely listen to the next book as well. I mean, it's Angela Dawe!! Need I say more?
