Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I've seen so many other reviewers talk about how gorgeous the cover is but what drew me into this book was the title. Throw Away Girls is a provacative title that made me want to find out more. I am so glad that I did.

Jaycee Wilder is the type of journalist you wish there more of in the world. She actually has compassion and empathy for victims of crime and seems to care about more than just getting a big story. She teams up with a cop looking for a fresh start and together they investigate crimes against women who party at seedy night clubs and are brutally murdered and dubbed "Throw Away Girls" by their killer.

The story was great and really drew me in. I am a big fan of thriller and mystery books so I was very excited to read this one. Only one thing bothered me and that is how the author was a bit wordy and danced around certain things. For example when describing the night clubs that the victims party at the author never really came out and said exactly what kind of clubs they are. I felt like I was reading the description forever but she never came out and said it was S&M or any other type of club. We come to find out that it was a club where strangers have sex with other strangers but I think she could have built on that to add to the creepy factor. I am all for being able to use my imagination to an extent when I am reading but the lack of a description of the clubs really bothered me. I watch a lot of Criminal Minds so I think I just wanted to know more about the environment since it played so much into victimology. I digress though, it's a minor point when on a larger scale the book was indeed excellent and I plan to read more books in the Jaycee Wilder Series as they come out.
