I’ll confess that this issue lost me a little bit. It’s not that I couldn’t follow it or anything like that. I just kept putting it down and picking it back up. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it just couldn’t hold my interest. I did end up finishing it though. I just feel like it lost something somewhere between the first issue and here.
Part of the problem is the pacing. We’re thrown from one issue to the next, and while that can add fantastic comic relief as well as tension, sometimes it’s better to do that a bit more sparingly. Everything felt rushed and all over the place at the same time. And some of the events that happened here broke the immersion for me.
There was a major character death that occurred – truth be told I had to go back and confirm the point where it happened. I do feel like that added to the reality of the situation, so while it was sad to see I respect that they didn’t pull the punch.
I honestly feel kind of horrible for not liking this issue more. Right from when I first heard about it I really wanted to like the series, and for the most part I have. I know that series can sometimes have down points though, so hopefully that’s all this is.
