I'm not going to review the book itself because so many other readers have already reviewed it so eloquently over the years, and it goes without saying that you can never go wrong with a Jane Austen novel. I'm only going to review the audiobook performance, which I enjoyed even more than I thought I would.

I've read Emma several times and while it's not my favorite Austen novel, I do enjoy it. I thought listening to it as an audiobook would be a nice change, and when I saw that Emma Thompson was one of the narrators, I knew I had no choice but to choose this version.

All of the performances are so well done and it was easy to fall into the story of Emma and her matchmaking schemes. It flows so well and the voice actors give such emotional performances that the story is never stilted, and I found myself listening for long stretches at a time.

Whether you've already read Emma a hundred times or this is your first experience with it, this audiobook is definitely worth a listen!
