I automatically love a heroine over 30, but Winnie had a lot more going for her than that. And the cure for the genre’s implausible preponderance of dukes, earls, and viscounts: a hero who’s a ratcatcher. In case you can’t hear, that’s me going YESSS.

(And okay, that’s fixed by the end, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.)

The beginning’s a farce, the ending is preposterous, but the 80% in between is just on the “what the?” side of sweetly batty, and right now that works for me.
