Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)

by Marissa Meyer

The fates of Cinder and Scarlet collide as a Lunar threat spreads across the Earth…

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles.

She's trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information about her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

All the things that I loved about the first book were just as good in this! I was worried since it was the second in the series that it would have not been as good as the first since that does tend to happen in a series, but I was wrong and I loved it!

I was also kind of sad at first when I thought a new character would be competing with Cinder, but Scarlet had her own awesomeness. Her story is based off of the Red Riding Hood fairy tale with a grandmother that she’s trying to find, and her determination to see things through was a good fit and I really liked her. She encounters a character called Wolf and even has a red hoodie! Her journey intersects with Cinder and we find out more about Lunars, a hidden princess, Cinder’s past and all that fun adventure stuff from the first book. There’s even some cool fight scenes in this one!

Honestly, if you loved the first book go and get this one, I mean after that ending you’ll want to continue the series with this book anyway. If you haven’t read the first book yet, go get it! For those that have read it, now we start the wait for the next book in 2014!
