I was looking for a good story that involved ghosts that I could read during the Halloween season, and I found this. Not only did it have the creepy factor, but I really liked the main character too.
Alexis is the kind of girl who acts out and gets in trouble at school, doesn’t have any friends and has issues at home. She has always been there to make sure her sister was safe in her own way though. She has a quick tongue and although she doesn’t seem to care what other people think, deep down it matters to her.There is a slight hint at some romance and a crush building on a guy in this book, but the main focus is the paranormal phenomenon going on so it doesn’t take away at all. She’s a tough girl, who tries her best to help out her sister and stop whatever is going to happen.
Kasey is a bit odd even at the beginning of the book. She’s obsessed with collecting dolls, and throughout the book she changes and gets weirder and almost violent at times. But it’s sometimes hard to tell between Kasey and what might be taking over.
The ghost story itself was really interesting. This story is one about possession, ghosts wanting revenge and creepy dolls. Dolls tend to creep me out actually, so I’m glad there weren’t any pictures in this book! The ghost behind all the bad things happening was perfect for the story, she did little things at a time as she grew stronger, but they were all significant in the whole plot. The doors opening on their own for instance. It creeps me out in my own place when I hear things or think I see something at work, but I think this book has just got me thinking about it more than usual.
The “final showdown” and the ending went by faster than I would have liked, and I did hope there would be a few more creepy ghost stuff, but it was definitely a good book!
