Overall I loved this book. For some reason, I am always absolutely fascinated by this timeperiod and especially the people who worked in the rich people's houses and this one having a mystery involved in it at well just made it so so much better. Jane was such a likable character and you could tell she cared about people no matter there social status or how much money they had. Of course, at times she got annoyed with her job, but for the most part, she just saw them as people and I think part of that was because the two young ladies she was being a ladies maid for were young and new to this whole high society world.
All of the side characters were interesting and made this story even better. I also enjoyed how we got to see the vast difference between the high society world and the world that Jane was from and how the injustices that the poorer people were dealing with and had to constantly deal with. The police brutality that many people experience during this time was also mentioned and shown, while also showing why some people just gave up and confessed. While extremely sad, it was good to have that shown in a book that deals with so much high society and makes them seem untouchable to a certain extent when we all know the real truth and the consequences that come with it for everyone.
The mystery part of this book was one I really enjoyed, I didn't figure out who was the killer until right before Jane did and even then I still wasn't one-hundred percent sure because of how it could have been several different people. I fully get why the killer did it though and I don't blame her at all.
I am going to be continuing on with this series and I can't wait to see what Jane gets up to next and if we get to see any of the other side characters that were present in this book.
