Paper Cut Outs

by Raz Rix

Hi, I'm Teagan Foster. I have a tendency to over-exaggerate a lot, but trust me when I say that there have been 2 worst days of my life.

The first worst day was when my baby sister, Meagan, died in an accident. It tore me to shreds, and it was my fault.

The second worst day was a month later, when my father left because my mother was cheating on him.

All I want is to escape reality, to escape my own head. The horrors and thoughts that crowd my mind as I lie in bed at night are too much for me.

It's been a month since my father moved out, and this is where my story begins.

When I read the blurb for Paper Cut Outs I thought we would learn about how the heart-breaking events affected Teagan but it was skimmed over briefly.
I do think there could have been more told about Teagan’s sister and the aftermath of her death and about her parents were getting a divorce as I felt that I was missing something, how in two months could her mother be in quite a strong relationship with another man going from married to divorced and losing a child in between, being a mother myself if anything happened to my children the last thing I would be thinking about was finding a boyfriend.
It could have been more in-depth.
There wasn’t really a storyline as such, just a teenager who liked her twin brother’s best friend but her best friends kept copping off with them and experimenting with smoking pot to ease the rubbish in her life.

I think this book could have been a lot more than it was but a teen would probably really enjoy it.
