The Infamous Miss Rodriguez: A Ciudad Real Novella

I've been looking for chick lit or light romances set in the Caribbean and/or Latin America. This is a wonderful first find. It takes place on an imaginary island in the Caribbean.

Graciela Rodriguez is engaged to a man picked by her aunt to help the family factory. Graciela does not want to marry him so she starts to try to ruin her reputation. It isn't as easy as it should be. Her aunt hires a bodyguard to keep Graciela out of trouble. I loved the idea of a woman trying to circumvent the restrictions that are so common in historical romances.

After reading this novella I bought a novel by the same author and set on the same island. I'm looking forward to reading more.
