Um. Wow. Part of me is tempted to leave the review at that, but I won’t. I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but I sincerely wasn’t expecting anything that happened in this issue. This is the first X-Men series that I’ve really tried to keep up to date with (everything else I’m horrifically behind in), but I think I made the right call here.
They keep flipping all of my expectations on their heads. One moment I expect this character to be the bad guy or the hero, and the next moment that’s all reversed again. And then there’s what’s happening with the rest of the world. It’s a mess out there, so I can only imagine that this plot is going to affect a lot of other Marvel series – for that reason alone I’m glad I know what’s going on here.
There were a few moments in particular that I really loved, but I can’t describe any of them without having huge spoilers. Let’s just say that Bishop and Beast both had amazing moments, and the conclusion was intense. I’m looking forward to next week’s issue.
