Okay, so we really should have known that after everything that’s been happening lately that they’d bring Diana back to roots in some way. Usually that means bringing her back to Steve as well as throwing a god plot at her. In this case it happens to be both.
I’m not really sure how exactly Steve got himself in this mess, or how he’s survived as long as he has (the guy is very talented at getting himself into trouble). I still find it refreshing that they’ve flipped the expectations with this couple.
